About
Gyozike
Gyozike
is one of the best-performing
reality shows aired on RTL Club.
Everybody knows that reality
programming focusing on the life of a
celebrity is nothing new
on American airwaves. But RTL Club in
Hungary has taken a step further
with Gyozike, a Hungarian hybrid of
"Growing up Gotti" and "The
Osbournes". Starring Hungarian musician Gyozo Gaspar,
"Gyozike" (a
diminutive of the singer's given name) offers Hungarians a glimpse into
his life, gives them a unique opportunity to become aware of how the
star
keeps house with his wife and two very
young children. Gaspar's status as an
ethnic Roma Gypsy gives the
programme an exotic flavor for Hungarian viewers. Despite Gaspar's
celebrity persona and Roma edge, his preteen children soften the show
and broaden its appeal to viewers more interested in family dynamics
than stargazing. Who's watching the programme? So far, Gyozike
attracts
teenagers
(interested in celebrities), people in their twenties (interested in
the show's
quirky premise and humor) and those over 30 who like the show's family
orientation. Gaspar might be a star at
night, but he's got to get his
kids breakfast every morning, a dimension that is helping Gyozike
overlap and appeal to several demos. The show which airs on Mondays at
9
p.m., has scored audience shares as high as 42%.
