Shelly was born and raised in the private oil-community of Pointe-a-Pierre, Trinidad. Shelly Dass was educated at the private "St Peters Primary School" in Pointe-a-Pierre, St. Joseph's Convent, and later, Oral Roberts University in the United States, where she studied broadcast journalism. Since her return to Trinidad and Tobago, Shelly has worked for several major television stations in the country. She was recognized as one of the youngest in the media industry to rise to such a level success.
